Professor Mats Brännström, team leader
Professor of obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Gothenburg and Senior specialist and Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Has the overriding responsibility for the project in uterus transplantation and is also a doctoral advisor for doctoral candidates who are participating in the research. Mats Brännstrom has been clinically active in the field of gynecological tumor surgery since 1988 and has been a professor since 2001. Has been involved in research on uterus transplantation since 1999.

Professor Michael Olausson
Associate professor of transplantation surgery, professor of clinical transplantation surgery at the University of Gothenburg, transplantation surgeon at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Is Sweden’s leading transplantation surgeon and a pioneer within Scandinavia in the area of intestinal transplantation, multiorgan transplantation and liver transplantation from living donors.

Anders Enskog

Responsible for anesthesia and intensive care within the research project and also for its future clinical introduction. Anders Enskog has worked as a specialist for more than 20 years and is also a specialist in transfusion medicine. Doctoral thesis in reproductive medicine.

Professor Andreas G. Tzakis (observing and consulting)
Professor of transplantation surgery and honorary doctor of the University of Gothenburg.
Has conducted research in the area of uterus transplantation since 2005 and participated in the group’s uterus transplantations in baboons. Is considered one of the world’s foremost transplantation surgeons and the surgeon who has performed the most liver transplantations in the world. Pioneer in the area of innovative technologies. Serves as a professor of transplantation surgery at the Cleveland Clinics, U.S.

Cesar Diaz
Specialist in obstetrics & gynecology
Gynecological surgeon from Valencia, Spain. Very active in the field of research on uterus transplantation and responsible among other things for a number of studies on fertility following uterus transplantation. Has participated in the surgeries on baboons.

Ash Hanafy
Associate professor of obstetrics & gynecology
Specialist since 2005 and has been with the project on uterus transplantation from the start. Works as a specialist at the Gold Coast Hospital in Queensland, Australia and is also an associate professor and teaches women’s health at the Griffith University School of Medicine.

Janusz Marcickiewicz
Associate professor of obstetrics & gynecology, M.D.
One of Sweden’s most experienced gynecological surgeons with wide knowledge in the area of gynecological tumor surgery and vaginal surgery. Participated in the project providing surgical expertise during the operations on sheep, pigs and baboons.

Johan Mölne
Associate professor of pathology & cytology, M.D. Responsible for rejection assessment in kidney transplantation for the past 15 years. Has participated as a senior researcher in the uterus transplantation project from its beginning.

Klaus Groth
Specialist in obstetrics & gynecology, M.D. Doctoral thesis on uterus transplantation, Gynecological surgeon.

Lars Nilsson
Associate professor of obstetrics & gynecology, associate professor. Doctoral thesis in reproductive physiology.
One of the world’s most experienced IVF physicians and also responsible for the project’s IVF. Was part of the team which performed the first successful IVF treatment in Sweden and Scandinavia.

Shamima Akhi
Physician and doctoral candidate
Will defend her dissertation on uterus transplantation in December 2012.

Randa Akouri
Physician and postdoctoral fellow. Doctoral dissertation in the area of uterus transplantation, where she showed among other things the first living offspring resulting from a uterus transplantation.

Lena Sand
Specialist in anesthesia & intensive care since 2001. Has been with the project since 2011.

Lars Sahlman
Associate professor of anesthesia & intensive care
One of Sweden’s most experienced anesthesiologists. Has been with the project since 2011.

Christina Svensson
Specialist in anesthesia & intensive care. Has been with the project since 2011.

Maria Lidemyr
Surgical nurse. Works in the area of gynecological surgery. Has taken part in the experiments with sheep, pigs and baboons.

Monica Börjesson
Surgical nurse. Has worked since 1989 among other things on kidney and liver transplantations. Has taken part in the baboon experiments. Has been with the project since 2011.

Monica Thompson
Surgical nurse. Works among other things on kidney and liver transplantations. Has been with the project since 2011.

Mona Abel
Surgical nurse. Works in the area of gynecological surgery. Has been with the project since 2011.

Ann Wallin
Biomedical analyst who has conducted a great number of analyses within the project
